After the Ceasefire, What's Next? A View from the Israeli Left
On 25 May 2021, Mossi Raz, a member of Knesset for the Meretz party and award-winning journalist J.J. Goldberg discussed the recent major developments in the Middle East – the latest round of warfare between Israel and Hamas, the implications of the latest ceasefire, and, no less important, the ugly inter-ethnic violence perpetrated by mobs of Jewish and Arab citizens.
MK Raz also discussed the growing danger to Israeli democracy: Prime Minister Netanyahu’s embrace of Kahanist extremism in order to remain in power, the rightwing’s increasing efforts to intimidate the media, and the palpable threat of authoritarianism if Netanyahu manages to thwart the formation of a “change government” designed to oust him.
