Unrecognized Bedouin Village Destroyed — Again

Unrecognized Bedouin Village Destroyed — Again

As devoted readers of our blog should know, we focused several times this past year on the issue of disputed property claims and the actual or threatened displacement of Israel’s Negev Bedouin living in officially unrecognized villages:

Our friend and informant on this matter from Israel, Rabbi Arik Ascherman of Rabbis for Human Rights, was arrested a few days ago while protesting the government’s destruction (for the “50th time“) of the unrecognized Bedouin community of Al Arakib  You may read Rabbi Ascherman’s post by clicking on its title: “When The Might of the State is Deployed Against the Oppressed: Thoughts on my Arrest.”  Our thanks to board member Carolyn Oppenheim for keeping us informed.
