Let us remember that Passover is a celebration of freedom for the Jewish people; today, our seders often invoke contemporary struggles for freedom and human rights as well. Let us ponder this when we consider the fate of our fellow Jews in Israel and of the Palestinian people with whom they have struggled for decades. It is our belief that the freedom of Israel is intertwined today with the freedom of a sovereign Palestinian state living in peace alongside the Jewish state.
We traditionally recite at the seder’s conclusion, “Next Year in Jerusalem” — hopefully this time in peace and freedom for both Israelis and Palestinians. We wish you a sweet Pesach!
