This should not be read as an endorsement of the late Rabbi Menachem Froman, a founder of Gush Emunim, the militant settler movement founded in the 1970s and known for its extremism; rather it is a remembrance of an individual who apparently believed in transcending his ideological box. As he indicates toward the end of this video from Tablet, it appears that he was ready to accept the possibility of pious Jews living deep within the West Bank under Palestinian sovereignty in his settlement town of Tekoa:
