This article goes back to the early roots of our organization in the HaShomer Hatzair youth movement and Americans for Progressive Israel. It leaves out later details of the merger of API with Americans for RATZ and the Education Fund for Israeli Civil Rights and Peace to form Meretz USA, but its point is less the exact history than that we represent a venerable current within the Zionist fold, which the far right ignores in its intolerant zeal.
