On Sunday, March 13, Meretz USA President Moises Salinas Fleitman issued the following statement on behalf of the organization:
Meretz USA is outraged by the horrible murder of Udi and Ruth Fogel, and their children, 11 year-old Yoav, 4 year-old Elad and 3 month-old Hadas in the settlement of Itamar. We are repulsed not only by the unspeakable violence involved, but by the unimaginable act of dehumanization that allowed the terrorist to slaughter not just civilians, but young children in their sleep. No political context can justify such a crime.
The time of appeasement must end! This “we have to understand their anger Bullshit must stop now. The radical Muslim scum is no better then a roach! It must be squashed once and for all. When one can watch a people celebrate an atrocity such as this as the Muslims are doing and in turn not hear one word from the idiot in the White House condemning it, one has to know it is time to strike back once and for all at these heathens! I don’t want too hear any more about the “religion of peace” crap! I want these radical eliminated once and for all. I want the world to understand there is no place in any sane society for the hateful scum that is the Radical Islamic Terrorist! Someone has to say it and someone has to stop it now!
The people involved in this atrocity have decided to follow the dictates of an element that has called for the death of all Jews and Western inhabitants that disagree with their warped version of religion! The world must fight back now! (And yes, I know this is harsh even for me, but it has to stop!)
The murders of the Fogel family is indeed utterly horrific and repulsive. It CANNOT be justified. BUT – we HAVE to use our brains to UNDERSTAND such things, if we are ever to stop them happening. To merely scream “Scum! Squash them!”, as joetote says, gets us nowhere, fast.
So. The background to this terrible act is the ILLEGAL settlements, by which Israel goes on and on stealing the land of people in the West Bank. It is a hideous policy and it will go on producing inevitable reactions by people on the West Bank – human beings like us – SOME of whom will inevitably be mad thugs like the Fogel murderers.
And how does Israel think it best to discourage such responses to its ‘thefts by Settlements’? By IMMEDIATELY, as Netanyahu has, ordering the building of a hundred MORE settlements!
Where else would we find such a crazy response by a Government which likes to think of itself as sane and honest?
I’m sorry, joetote, but this is reality – as ye sow, so shall ye reap. It really is time our brethren in Israel understood this, instead of their endless “We’re BIGGER than you so WE’RE RIGHT AND YOU’RE WRONG!” foreign policy attitude.
I’m quite sure some will read this and howl ‘Self-hater!’ at me. But if you really want to solve a problem, you really have to try, honestly, to understand its causes. Haven’t you?
